A-4K Skyhawk

NZ6201

oops

Taken at Ohakea, December 13, 2001. An Air Refueling Stores System or 'Buddy refueling pack' is fitted on the centreline rack (station 3). This view is looking forward from slightly to port (the nosewheel is visble forward of the unit). The units were purchased surplus from the Israelis and several have been lost in crashes. Note the drogue in the stowed position, and the red formating light to the left of the drogue (a matching green light is to the right). The lower fuselage access door can be seen at right leaning on the unit. The access door has a quick release hinge and is removed during refueling when stores are carried on the centreline rack.
