Rotorua Museum of Art and History

(Government Baths building)

Taken at Rotorua, 16 October, 1999. The Art and History Museum was the site of a Jean Batten exhibition in 1999. The museum is located in the former Bath-house in the Government gardens. The mock Tudor building was built as part of a spa complex at the beginning of last century to attract tourists to 'take the waters' in the natural thermal area. Note the colours in the water, indicating thermal activity.
