Taken at Mapua, April 23rd, 1998 Cockpit hatch - open from rear. Note this door was modified post-war by the RNZAF, although the original fittings can be seen. The black emergency release handle is new. (An emergency light was originally in a green canvas pouch fitted below this). Originally a handle was fitted at top-right which pulled a cord through a pulley to remove the hinge pins. The green handle is to manually pump the hydraulics in case of emergency. The warning stencil is important given the proximity to the propellors!
